Things You Never Knew Vinegar Could Do
Vinegar is a seriously under appreciated household item. This simple yet powerful liquid can do just about anything from removing that irritating sticker to removing pet stains, and is an incredibly adaptable cleaning product.
Here’s a quick and nowhere near comprehensive list for the uses of vinegar.
Remove a sticker: Did you let your kids go a little crazy with the stickers on the windows of your car? Happens all the time, heat up vinegar in the microwave then soak a sponge in it. Squeeze out the vinegar onto the sticker or decal, then peel off. You can also use room temperature vinegar to remove the price sticker.
Lime-scale can seem impossible to scrub off, but you can loosen it first with the cunning use of vinegar. Soak some paper towels in vinegar then wrap the lime-scaled areas and leave on for one hour. It should come off significantly easier and leaves a nice shine.
Get rid of build up on the bottom of your teapot by boiling a 1:1 mixture of vinegar and tap water for a few minutes. Let the mixture sit for around an hour, then rinse thoroughly with water.
For rust stains and marks left by hard water, you can apply full strength vinegar to the spot and lightly scrub until it’s gone.
Clean your clothes more thoroughly by adding one cup of vinegar while the washer is in the rinse part of the cycle. It won’t harm the materials inside, but it will clean out soap scum.
Clear out the build up in your coffee maker by putting two cups of vinegar and running it on a brew cycle, without the coffee grounds. Make sure to rinse it well with water afterwards, or you’ll have not so savory coffee the next morning.
You can knock out both the odor and the visible stain left by your pet by mixing a half cup of vinegar with a half cup of water then applying to the stain. Blot it out with a towel, this works best with fresh stains.
